HORSHAM TOWN

Horsham is a delightful, picturesque town set in the heart of scenic West Sussex in the Western part of the High Weald. The town is surrounded by beautiful countryside with areas of the ancient St Leonard’s Forest still to be found.
Historically the town was known for its weekly markets and annual fairs for cattle, sheep and horses. Horsham still has market days but no longer for livestock.

Horsham offers a good variety of shops both major high street and independent stores, many of these can be found under cover in Swan Walk or in pedestrianised areas of the town. In the centre is the historic Carfax – an old word meaning where four roads meet - with its Victorian bandstand where musicians often perform. Piries Place is a particularly charming square located just off the Carfax housing eateries, bars, and a Waitrose supermarket. Piries Place regularly hosts weekend entertainment. There is ample parking in the town centre or the facility of Park & Ride is also available.

Leading from the town centre, the oldest and most historic street in Horsham can be found, The Causeway. At the far end is the Grade One Listed St Mary’s Church. The church was built in the 12th Century and still retains parts dating back to the 13th Century, its tall spire and great size indicates the ancient importance of the town in those times. The museum is also located in The Causeway; the building dates back to 1450 AD and here can be found the information centre.
Beyond the Church is the River Arun and a walk across the bridge will bring you to the Tennis Courts and Cricket field. For those more adventurous a walk to the top of Denne Hill will provide an excellent view of Horsham and the countryside around.

The city of Brighton is approximately 40 minute journey by car with its unique shops and vibrant night life.
The city of Guildford is approximately 45 minute journey by car with its theatre and historic buildings.

Gatwick Airport is located some 12 miles distant and is approximately 20 minutes by car or train.
Horsham main railway station is situated just outside the town centre with direct routes to Gatwick, London Bridge and London Victoria. As journey time by train to the City is just under 60 minutes and with easy access to the M23 & M25 it makes Horsham the ideal location for commuters, tourists and those simply wishing to visit.

Horsham has a comprehensive range of both independent and state nursery, primary, secondary and 6th form colleges.
The famous Christ Hospital School was moved to the area in 1902 and the pupils can still be spotted in their distinctive uniforms around the town.

Horsham today provides excellent leisure amenities with local golf courses, sports centres and clubs, a newly renovated arts centre including theatre and cinema and a good variety of restaurants and pubs.
Horsham Park features a maze, skate board park, football pitches and first rate children’s playground as well as tennis courts and crazy golf.

Horsham offers the perfect balance between town and country living.
